Job Overview

Directly supervises the residential advisors on the overnight shift. Responsible for residential activities within the dormitories providing for maximum program coordination, student safety/wellbeing, discipline, and preparation of records and reports in compliance with government, corporate, and management directives.

  • Pay: $19.96/hour plus an additional $4.57/hour (up to maximum of 40 hours per week) used to offset the cost of elected benefits.
  • Hours: Tues-Sat, 3:00pm-12:00am.
  • Retirement Plan: Eligible to participate in company 401(k) with Company matching after 1 year.
  • Vacation: Minimum of ten days per year. Actual days are based upon your Service Date.
  • Sick Time: Accrued sick time at 1 hour per 30 hours worked, capped at 56 hours per year
  • Holidays: 12 paid holidays per year.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:
  • Evaluates situations and conditions within the dormitories and makes decisions or recommendations to maintain a safe, positive, and wholesome environment.
  • Performs assigned administrative duties required for effective student and staff services.
  • Works as an effective member of the independent living team, ensuring communication with shift personnel and support of other departments.
  • Performs residential advisor functions as necessary to ensure safety and proper student behavior. Prepares and trains for emergency situations that may arise.
  • Communicates with families of students by mail and phone to resolve problems and assure the wellbeing of students, as required.
  • Assists with the coordination of residential activities including recreation and entertainment on and off Center. Assists in special dorm events.
  • Inspects dormitory facility regularly. Recommends facility maintenance work when needed. Assists in selection and training of all hall leaders and ensures daily cleanup.
  • Recommends student visits with counselor.
  • Serves in the absence of the Dormitory Supervisor, as assigned.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of new and revised policies, procedures, and programs affecting residential living.
  • Oversees and attends mass meetings. Serves as advisor to dorm government.
  • Maintains accountability of students and property. Adheres to standard safety practices.
  • Reviews, reports, and processes accident/injury reports for staff and student job related injuries. Identifies unsafe practices and develops corrective measures to minimize risk and lost time accidents in accordance with corporate, government, and Job Corps regulations.
  • Cultivates and maintains a positive Center climate, free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect in order to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
  • Maintains positive and effective relations with students. Provides guidance for students to achieve a positive attitude and proper behavior in the dormitory living situation and to accomplish their goals and objectives.
  • Monitors student progress in the program by ensuring compliance with established corporate and Department of Labor (DOL) Data Integrity guidelines.
  • Promotes student attainment of career success standards through modeling appropriate skills, mentoring students, monitoring skill acquisition and intervening when inappropriate behavior is observed.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year experience working with youth.
  • Successfully pass any background check and/drug test required on the contract.
  • Ability to obtain & maintain valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record.
