Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Direct accounting staff in the processing of accounting transactions and the preparation of financial reports, statements, audits, and operating budgets. Analyzes and interprets financial data and status of the organization, making recommendations for changes to improve processing and internal control systems and financial performance. Work with the Director of Finance in accounting and finance matters to achieve organizational goals and efficiencies.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain the general ledgers and sub-ledgers for multiple companies.
  • Supervise accounting staff in processing accounting transactions.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls and audit procedures to ensure proper financial management.
  • Perform month end and year end account reconciliations and general ledger closing.
  • Review company financial statements for accuracy and clarity.
  • Assist and support the Director of Finance in developing operating budgets.
  • Manage day-to-day cash flows.
  • Forecasts short- and long-term cash requirements.
  • Prepare reports that summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
  • Function as a primary point of contact for the outside auditors during the annual audit.
  • Function as a primary point of contact with the outside tax preparers for the annual tax return and quarterly estimated tax payments (state and federal).
  • Ability to work in a multi company environment with diverse lines of business.
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree - in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. Master's degree preferred.
  • CPA certification is beneficial.
  • Ten years of progressive experience in all aspects of a functioning accounting system. Five years of management and supervisory experience.
  • Excellent financial accounting analysis capabilities.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills required.
  • Strong ability to communicate and present complex financial matters in simple, understandable terms.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office and accounting software.
  • Ability to work in a multi company environment with diverse lines of business.
  • Prefer knowledge and expertise in Government Contracting, with specific knowledge of DCAA and FAR requirements.
